What We Know About Friday’s Massive East Coast Internet Outage
On Friday, a large distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack targeted the DNS servers of Internet infrastructure company Dyn in several waves. Access to dozens of sites and services was disrupted, particularly along the U.S. East Coast. Security firms detected Mirai botnet devices generating much, though not necessarily all, of the attack traffic.
