LinkedIn uses hidden scripts to detect browser extensions and collect user data
BleepingComputer independently confirmed that LinkedIn's website loaded a JavaScript file with a randomized filename that checked for 6,236 browser extensions and collected various browser and device data. LinkedIn says it uses extension detection to protect the platform and its users and to identify data-scraping extensions that violate its terms of service. LinkedIn denies inferring sensitive information from this data. Claims about how the data is used or whether it is shared with third parties could not be verified.
