Ransomware attacks increased by 61% compared with the third quarter of last year

According to an analysis by Comparitech, ransomware groups claimed 2,627 attacks in the third quarter of 2026. This was 27% more than in Q2 2026 and 61% more than in Q3 2025, making it the highest quarterly volume recorded. Of the claimed attacks, 247 were confirmed by the affected entities.
