Alpine Linux rebuilds GitLab after attempted RCE attack

Attackers attempted to exploit the critical GitLab vulnerability CVE-2026-97229 in Alpine Linux’s development infrastructure on October 20–21. The attacks caused eight worker crashes, and four attempts were partially successful, but Alpine Linux found no evidence of code execution or tampering with software packages and releases. A possible compromise could not be ruled out because logs and outbound connection records were missing.
